That they needed to be as shrewd as snakes and as harmless as doves. Jesus called His 12 disciples together and He gave them the authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness. He told them not to go to the Gentiles or the Samaritans, but to the people of Israel - God's lost sheep. Monday, February 9th, 2026 4:18 am Good morning! Today I am in Matthew 13:53-58, Mark 6:1-6, and Luke 4:16-30. Here Jesus goes back to His hometown of Nazareth. While there, He went to the synagogue there and taught. He taught out of the scroll of Isaiah (Isaiah 61:1-2) that said of how the Spirit of the Lord was upon Him, for God had anointed Him to bring the Good News. Sending Him to proclaim that captives and the oppressed would be set free, released from captivity.
